The Countryside junior is taking a step forward thus far this season after averaging 11.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals a year ago.
At 5’11”, Williams uses his quickness and high percentage shooting to his advantage. As a sophomore, he connected on 83 percent of his free throw attempts, 42 percent of his 3’s and 43 percent of his two-point attempts.
He can turn on his offense at any time, evident by his 28-point performance last season where he made 8-of-12 from downtown. Williams finished with 15 double-digit games including two with 20 plus points.
In Saturday’s 74-69 win over Treasure Coast in the Turkey Shootout at Lehigh, Williams showed that he can lead an offense.
For much of the game, the offense ran through him or fellow junior guard Troy Reeves. Williams keeps this team flowing because he is that savvy and wise as a passer.
Look for Williams to improve on his numbers from last season now that he’s gotten more confident in his all-around game.
