The P.K. Yonge guard averaged 11.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game as a freshman. So far this season, the 6’0″, 165-pounder is averaging 22.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.3 assists per game.
The Blue Wave finished 23-5 in 2015, ending their season in Class 3A region quarterfinal. Jarvis Roberts was their leading scorer, but he’s now in college and P.K. Yonge moved up to 4A.
Smith dropped a career-high 28 points in a 91-81 loss to Lincoln on Saturday. In fact, Smith already has two games with 20 or more points this season. In 2015, he had 15 double digit performances, but he never reached the 20-point mark until now.
A two-sport athlete, Smith also contributes as a wide receiver and safety for the Blue Wave football team. He is loaded with upside and his leaping ability is evident on the basketball court. He is quick to the ball and prides himself on takeaways.
This is a growing season for Smith and he’s already starting to come into his own more. Look for him to continue his progression as the centerpiece of the P.K. Yonge offense.
