Ford’s older brother Quincy went undrafted out of Northeastern this year but found his way into the NBDL with Utah. Quincy graduated from Gibbs in 2011.
A.J. has the same size as his brother at 6’8″, Ford committed to Richmond on Nov. 8.
The St. Petersburg senior had seven points in his preseason debut against Gibbs on Thursday night. Fouls were an issue for Ford all night, but he fought through it. His length really stands out and he uses it to his advantage throughout games. He can really wear down a defense.
Ford also had offers from American and Mississippi Valley State before verballing committing to Richmond a couple of weeks ago.
His length helps him in most situations. He’ll play the four in college and as long as he continues to get stronger that won’t be a problem. Ford is a determined young man who is an instrumental part of St. Peterburg’s success along with senior Darius Banks and junior Serrel Smith.
