Still the 2019’s waited. Time is a funny thing. When you are young and undervalued it drags. Not until you want to slow down and enjoy the ride does the ticker speed up.
These young men are demanding your attention in this the first month of their sophomore seasons.
Joseph Cooper is the tip of the spear for a wonderful Olive Branch High School squad. Cooper can run the show. Monday night Cooper dumped in 20 points and contributed 9 assists. His greatest assets are passing touch, foot speed, and natural strength. He will be a D1 player, probably at the SEC level. UT Martin offered Cooper two months ago.
Calvin Temple is a jet-quick point guard at Olive Branch. Over the summer he played AAU with Team Penny. The game of Temple resembles Jordan Goldwire (GA) and other slight-framed bolts of lightning. The outside touch is coming along and Temple projects as a high major hooper. Georgia Tech is showing fresh interest.
Dj Jeffries gets all the shine for Olive Branch, and deservedly so. The 6-foot-8 forward glides and finishes like a veteran. In a Monday win, Jeffries scored 31 points, hauled in eight rebounds, and blocked six shots. His ceiling is frighteningly high. UT Martin, Kansas, Wake Forest, and others have already offered. He will ultimately collect offers from virtually the entire nation. Follow him at @lildjj0 .
Virginian Armando Bacot (Trinity Episcopal School) has the size of a college freshman now. Truly unique in his powerful frame, Bacot will be high major all day. Before his second year of high school basketball, Bacot already boasted Wake Forest, St. John’s, Virginia, Providence, etc. offers. He is the throwback big, with traditional back-to-the-basket game. Bacot is a wonderful student of the game and impeccably coachable.
