Continue Reading2018 guard Michael Forrest won his first state championship a year ago with Blanche Ely, a program that has captured two straight and four since 2012.
Forrest, a 6’0″ combo guard averaged 8.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 rebounds for a 20-13 Tigers group that beat St. Petersburg in the Class 7A championship. In his first varsity season, he had three games with 20 plus points in the regular season and two others with 10 or more points.
In the playoffs, Forrest had big games with 16 points and five boards in a region final win over McArthur. He followed that up with a 12-point game against Melbourne and then added 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals against St. Pete.
As a key contributor for Blanche Ely a year ago, he scored in all but one game that he played. He performed at a high level in both the training and scrimmages at the Florida Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo last month. Forrest consistently knock down jumpers and hustled on defense.
He does all the little things you want in a well-rounded basketball player. This kid is very humble and when I got a chance to talk to him, he said very little, but you could tell he was enjoying the event.
Expect plenty of impact performances from Forrest this season. He’s going to draw attention of recruiters and coaches around the country now that the Tigers are playing in Class 8A ball. Forrest is a nice young prospect with endless upside as a combo guard.
