Standouts from the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo (Part 3)
The inaugural Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in Florida exceed expectations with 134 players in attendance ranging from 2017-2020 at the Big House in Tavares, Fla. So many kids came excited and ready to showcase their game in front of top-end trainers and coaches.
Here is part No. 3 of the top standouts from the event.
Will Anderson (Jesuit – 2017): A rising senior at state contender Jesuit, Anderson has a nice repertoire of post moves at his 6’7″ frame. He makes the most of every possession whether he’s setting a pick, dishing out a pass or knocking down a shot. He continues to put in the work to get better.
Robert Gomez (Frank W. Springstead – 2019): Gomez is only going to be a sophomore, but at 6’2″, he can really shine. He runs with ease and gets up and down the court quickly. He’s in for an expanded role for Springstead this season.
Braxton Bartlett (Palm Harbor University – 2019): Bartlett is one of the smartest players out there. Unfortunately, he suffered a high ankle sprain early in the expo. He was playing really well before the injury and certainly looks to be improving with time. At 6’5″, the sky is the limit for this kid who is both talented and wise beyond his years.
Larry Daniels Jr. (Tampa Bay Tech – 2018): Energy is on Daniels’ side. The rising junior is packed with speed and explodes off the ball often. At 6’1″, he has the size to be able to play both guard spots and move over to the wing if Tampa Bay Tech chose to go to a smaller lineup. He has plenty of upside.
Nicholas Santos (Lake Howell – 2017): He’s another rising senior who flashed at the Big House. He had a nice floater to his game and at 5’10”, he certainly won’t be a mismatch for defenders, but he makes plays that you don’t expect. Santos is very crafty.
Dexter Stallworth II (Hillsborough – 2017): The starting point guard at Hillsborough enters his senior season determined and ready to bring his all. He handles the ball very well and at 6’1″, he’s able to guard the best of them. Stallworth has a high basketball IQ and deserves more looks from college programs.
Desean Hall (American – 2018): A 6’1″ guard, Hall plays very strong for his size. He takes it to the rack with ease and helps out on both ends of the floor. Look for him to standout early and often this upcoming season at American.
Tim Lang (Lake Howell – 2018): The guard comes into his junior season at Lake Howell, a program looking to bounce back from a 9-17 campaign with new coach Derrick Allen on the sidelines. Lang is a 6’1″ guard who impressed me all day long with his craftiness.
Tyrick Brascom (Tampa Bay Tech – 2018): Brascom may be smaller at 5’8″, but he has wheels to get down the court quickly and he has a knack of making a big jump shot. He has a big role ahead of him with the Titans this season.
Edwin Louis (Deerfield Beach – 2017): A rising senior at Deerfield Beach, Louis is going to play a big role in the backcourt this season. At 5’11”, he isn’t the biggest or strongest, but he makes smart decisions with the ball in his hands.
Jack Johnson (Ponte Vedra – 2018): A lengthy kid at 6’8″, Johnson stuck out often at the expo, hauling in rebounds, winning his matchup on defense and attacking the rim. The rising junior has a very bright future.
Jacob Navarez (American – 2018): Playing the wing at American is a good spot for Vilchez, who stands at 6’3″. He’s a rising junior who can make plays with or without the ball in his hands. He has a solid arc on his shots.
Daiquan Wyatt (Palm Beach Lakes Charter – 2017): There’s not much not to like about Wyatt, who can play both frontcourt spots at 6’6″. He has a lot of fun out there and it’s clear that he simply enjoys basketball. Wyatt has a strong game and is only going to get better.
