Ft. Myers finished 16-12, making an appearance in the Class 6A region quarterfinal. Cox averaged 3.3 points, 2.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds in a situational role. This season, he’ll take on a bigger role as a full-time starter as a junior.
“Last season, I was a point guard who was only known to be able to pass the ball and dribble and felt that was my role as a sophomore,” Cox told Prep Hoops Florida. “What I have learned from that is that I needed to play the way I know I could and believe in all the work that I put in would pay off.”
How would the 5’11”, 165-pounder break down his own game?
“I’m an all-around player; I believe I can shoot, dribble, pass, and play defense well,” he said. “I need to get better as a defender.”
Cox trains with Kiel Lewis of Process Basketball to further his skills. He says Lewis helps him get his game where he wants to be.
No offers have come Cox’s way just yet, but he got his feet wet a year ago and seems destined for a breakout junior campaign. If he can bring his progress onto the court each and every night this season, he’ll start to get some looks. He has a bright future.
