Big man Grant Williams is playing college basketball at The University of Tennessee, Isaac Johnson is at Appalchain State and Josh Howard is at Brown University.
The Chargers will still have three 2018’s ranked highly in the state of NC. Devon Dotson is ranked third, Trey Wertz is ranked seventh and Isaac Suffren is ranked in the top 25.
Dotson has offers from North Carolina, Kansas, Florida State, Memphis, Florida, Clemson, Georgia and NC State among others. He spent the summer playing with Team Charlotte on the Under Armour circuit and participated in the Elite 24.
Wertz has a ACC offer Clemson along with Rice, LaSalle, Charlotte and Richmond. Wertz spent this summer with Team Loaded NC on the Adidas circuit.
Devon, Trey, and Isaac will give Providence Day one of the top back courts around. They will lack size, which is something Providence Day School has had in past years, but graduation hurt them in that regard. They have added Jacolbe Cowan and Muhsin Muhammad III, both top players in the NC 2020 class, and Luke Stankavage, another top NC 2020 player will be joining Varsity from the 8th grade team. Kyle Wood, a key reserve from last year’s team will also see an increase in playing time.
Providence Day is again playing a national schedule. The schedule includes games against state powers like Greensboro Day, Wesleyan Christian, and Christ School. But, we will be playing in the Charlotte Hoops Challenge, the Hoodie’s House, the Montverde Academy Invitational, the Music City Classic, the Phenom Hoops National Showcase, and a new event at Lake Pointe’s facility outside of Atlanta. The Chargers will also play in the Chick-Fil-A Classic in Columbia SC as well.
