The Tigers finished 25-6 on the year before falling in a back-and-forth battle to Bishop Kenny, 55-54 in the Class 5A state semifinal. Anderson grabbed a rebound and then proceeded to add the game-wining basket with 38 seconds left, giving Jesuit a four-point win in the region semifinal against Robinson just a week prior.
Anderson missed the first few games of the season and didn’t really start playing until the Father George National Jesuit Classic during Christmas time. The 6’7″, 185-pounder called this past season amazing.
“This year I am devoting myself completely to basketball. I will really miss Ryan [Fleming], DJ [Snyder], Lee [Green] and Mike [Sierra]. I played with these guys for three years and learned so much from them. They really taught me how to stay calm and play in pressure situations. I have to give some of the credit to what they taught me for that last second put back I made in the regional semifinal.”
How would Anderson breakdown his own game?
“I consider myself a very versatile player who can play multiple positions. I run the floor well and I am a strong rebounder. I am looking to improve my play above the basket, establishing a solid jump shot and improving my inside game after a rebound.”
He has played AAU ball over the past couple of years for MBC Elite in Sarasota.
“Last year, we finished 5th in the country for 16U. This year, we played from April until July, traveling to Atlanta, Tallahassee, Orlando and Myrtle Beach. In addition, I attended the Jay Bilas Skills Camp in Charlotte and the Hoop Group Academic Elite Camp in Pennsylvania. I really enjoyed learning and training at these camps.”
Anderson doesn’t have his first offer yet, but he’s generating interest from three schools, Catholic, Sewanee and Dallas.
He’ll get a shot somewhere whether that is Division-III or Division-II. That will give him a chance to compete at the next level. Anderson is a crafty player and a hard worker. He grinds it out down low.
