Continue Reading“I picked up a lot of new drills,” Whalen said. “Specifically to help shooting, how to shoot coming off screens , being more vocal, and being more aggressive on defense.”
Select Ohnstad, although ripe with several quality prospects, finished the year at 20-19.
“I’d say we didn’t start great, but we got much, much better as the year went on,” Whalen said. “We finished the year really strong in Vegas getting to the Elite Eight with only six guys after a teammate got injured.”
Regardless of Select’s up-and-down season, Whalen worked on rounding out his skills, and D3 college interest came in accordingly
“Personally I have improved a lot over the summer, improving my scoring ability and my defense is much better too. For college, I’m still looking and hoping for more interest as I have no offers yet, but I’ve had contact with around ten schools. I visited St. Olaf the other day and went to the St. Thomas elite camp where we had a group tour of the campus.”
Despite Tartan losing a high-potential prospect in Jarvis Thomas, Whalen is confident that his school can still get it done this winter.
