One of them is making its men’s basketball debut this winter.
“I had a D3 school Otterbein call, they are interested in me. And then a school called Midway, and then Allegheny. Otterbein has come to some of my games, and all of them have called me,” said Meyer.
Midways’ men’s basketball will be making its debut during the 2016-17 season, and Meyer says he’s open to anything at the moment.
“I’m interested in playing at the best college I can obviously, and I’m really hoping for my recruiting process to be successful.”
A slasher first, Meyer says he’s been working to improve his jumper, and his athleticism is certainly a strong point too.
“My shooting has gotten better, I’ve been working on that this summer. But I’m best at slashing. I’m also a good passer and my defense is pretty good. I’m a good finisher and I’ve been starting to dunk this summer too,” said Meyer.
“I need to work on my ball-handling a little bit more, and still my shooting — it’s getting better but still needs to improve.”
As he heads into his senior season and potentially a college career, Meyer says he’s comfortable playing both the point guard and shooting guard spots.
“I feel comfortable at both. I can play wherever they may need me; if they need a point guard I’ll play point guard…if they need a shooting guard I’ll play shooting guard.”
After spending his summer with KY Bluegrass Elite’s 17U squad, Meyer says he’ll have to be more of a scorer and leader with Colonels.
“They (Bluegrass Elite) had me playing point guard most of the time and I was a leader of the team. I thought I played pretty well and we won a few tournaments,” said Meyer.
“My (high school) coach is going to need me to be a leader, more of a scorer, and to just take control of the team.”
