Standing 6-foot-10 with a wingspan of 7-foot-6, colleges have begun to see what all of the fuss is about in Charlotte. Hamilton has the ability to run the floor as good as any big man in the country, has elite level shot blocking ability and now can consistently knock down a mid-range jumper. He has a great skill set when it comes to rebounding and has a high basketball IQ.
Hamilton has Division One offers from DePaul, North Florida, East Carolina, Temple, Old Dominion, Charlotte, Appalachian State, UCF, James Madison, UNC-Wilmington, Kennesaw State, Ohio, Northwestern State, VCU, High Point, College of Charleston, UNC-Greensboro and ETSU.
He played with Team United on the Nike EYBL circuit over the past summer and his recruitment is heating up. Hamilton said this about the second live period. “It’s going great, I have heard from Clemson, USC, Iowa State, Iowa and Connecticut.”
Last season at Independence HS, Hamilton helped the team to a 21-8 record overall and 10-2 mark in the conference. Independence made it to the third round of the NCHSAA 4-A playoffs. This season is his last in high school and he has set a few goals. “Next season my goal is to win states and my goal over the rest of the summer is to get better since I have so much time on my hands.”
Also over the summer Justyn was invited to The USA Olympic Men’s 17U training camp at United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was one of 39 high school basketball players across the country to receive this honor. Hamilton participated in the 2015 USA Basketball Junior National team minicamp in October and was selected to the Junior National team last fall.
With a long list of offers and high-major programs now showing a strong interest in a player that has the “you can’t coach 6-foot-10” attribute his future is bright. He had this to say about what he is looking for in a college, “I’m looking for a school that is going to develops me to be a player at the next level
