“I feel like it will be a great opportunity for me to get prepared for the next level,” Shelton told me. “(I’ll be) playing against the best competition in the country!”
Shelton averaged 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest as a sophomore with the Eagles last season. This summer, the sharp shooter played both with Team Manimal and Attucks Wolfpack on the AAU circuit, where he played extremely well.
In a Prospect Spotlight I wrote on the player just a couple of weeks ago (https://prephoops.com/2016/07/prospect-spotlight-hayden-shelton-2018/), Shelton said he was looking forward to being successful both from the team and personal standpoint this season – well, even though he isn’t going to be sticking around in Kentucky, he says he still has the same goals for he and his new team in West Virginia.
“My goals are to build a strong relationship with everybody and get that team chemistry down so that at the end of the year we are state champs,” Shelton stated.
The athlete told me that he heads out to West Virginia on Thursday.
