The 6’4″, 198-pound Sarasota Riverview guard enjoyed a solid week at the Super Showcase in Orlando.
Jackson had this to say about playing his first year for head coach Vincent Mitchell and the Florida Sons 16U team.
“It’s good getting a lot of exposure and playing with guys who are getting college looks. Having college coaches watching us and being part of that is good.”
Jackson says that his skill level is a lot better in terms of ball handling and shooting since joining the Florida Sons.
Here’s how he broke down his own game.
“I’m pretty good at attacking the rim. I need to work on my shooting a little bit more, but I’m good at getting to the rim, penetrating and making plays.”
Last year, a then-freshman Jackson played often for head coach BJ Ivey and the Rams. Riverview made it all the way to the Class 8A state final with a 29-3 record before falling to Coral Springs 61-57.
As for Jackson’s role for his sophomore season. This is what he had to say.
“Coach [Ivey] told me that he wants me to contribute 10-15 points a game and help out AJ [Caldwell] and Brion [Whitley] on the ball.”
No colleges have offered or shown Jackson interest just yet, but that will change this season. Like he alluded to, he is a strong attacker and that is something that is evident throughout games. Jackson is a strong and smart kid who will make big strides as a sophomore.
