There were a ton of players that impressed us. Here are just a few of the class of 2019 prospects from out-of-state that really stuck out in our minds.
Jelani Moreno (Orlando Orangemen)
Blazing fast, Moreno is a good facilitator. At 5’7″, he can maneuver around defenders for a lay-in or knock down an open shot when he finds room. The rising sophomore is still developing and should have a solid season for Boone. He’s a guy to monitor simply because he is that quick and agile.
Nathan Louis (CFE)
At 6’3″, Louis is one of those guys that simply makes plays. He dropped a team-best 23 points in a semifinal win over the Orlando Orangemen on Sunday. He has a solid overall game which includes a dangerous jumper and impressive hops towards the rim. He’ll be in for big minutes at Apopka this season as an up-and-comer.
Taylor Trudeau (Orlando Orangemen)
Trudeau can be a dangerous shooter when he gets hot. He shook off a drought in the first game by bouncing back with some nice performances as the tournament progressed. At 6’3″, the Mt. Dora Christian shooting guard has the ability to attack and dish out the ball. He should have a nice season as a scorer for Mt. Dora.
Jordan Poventud (Team M.O.A.M)
The shooting guard showed off his all-around game in the tournament by chasing after rebounds, being unselfish as a passer on offense and making his opponent shots. He has good attacking ability. Doubling as a volleyball player for Dr. Phillips, Poventud says that playing as an outside hitter helps him jump in basketball. He surprises you with his athleticness.
Kolton Mitchell (Florida Sons)
Mitchell has some serious burst that he uses to find open teammates on passes and get free spots to knock down long-range jumpers. His 3-pointer is a strong suit in his game. At 5’11”, he holds his own defensively. Mitchell should earn plenty of more looks as he enters his sophomore year at Victory Rock Prep.
Emmanuel Adedoyin (E1T1)
The 6’2″ point guard will help run the Oak Ridge offense this season. He added an impressive 23 points on day one of the tournament including 15 in the second half alone. He has good range and very solid ball skills. Adedoyin has the ability to stretch the floor with his high-motor.
Javari Brantley (Orlando Orangemen)
Brantley has nice arc from outside or as an attacker in the lane. He uses his quickness to his advantage often. At 5’11”, the Edgewater guard showed that he can be a threat on offense as a scorer and on defense as a shot blocker. Brantley added 12 points in the semifinal loss on Sunday to CFE.
Trey Cason (Orlando Orangemen)
Over the first two days of the tournament, Cason put up 18 and 26 points. At 5’10”, his jumping ability is his best feature. He gets up in a hurry and finds ways to bring in rebounds and get his teammates open. The Edgewater guard plays with endless energy and can shoot from just about anywhere on the court.
