“My game is mostly focused around shooting the ball and attacking the basket,” Spurlock said. “But I take pride in my defense when shots aren’t falling.”
Spurlock has multiple schools showing interest, but hasn’t received his first offer yet. Colleges who have shown the guard interest are: Wofford, USC Upstate, Lipscomb, Navy, SEMO, UPike and LMU. Spurlock said that on top of that interest, he is also receiving some smaller interest from some other D1 and D3 schools, and more coaches should start to reach out because he has guard skills.
“I think I should catch their (coaches’) eyes because I’m a 6’6 guard and can shoot,” he stated.
Spurlock played for the Matts Mustangs on the AAU Circuit this spring and with the Louisville Prospects this summer. He said he performed pretty well and played at a high level.
“I played for the Matts Mustangs in the spring and won the D1 AAU State,” Spurlock told me. “This summer, I played with the Louisville Prospects and competed at a high level. I performed well and would consider this summer and spring successful.
In the classroom, the athlete considers himself as a good student.
“I would consider myself a good student,” Spurlock said. “I have taken the ACT once and got a 21 and have a 4.0 GPA. I work my hardest and take it as serious as basketball.”
As he is a good basketball player and hard-worker, Spurlock says he wants to be successful as possible this season.
“My goals for this season are to win the Region and just be as successful as possible,” he stated.
