“I’m more of a scoring guard,” Smith said. “I’m also a vocal leader.”
Smith played a solid role in the Cardinals’ success last season. The freshman appeared in 21 games and averaged 1.7 points per contest along with 1.0 rebounds. Smith also dished out a significant number of assists. He may of not seen a ton of action, but he is ready to go to work this year.
“I’m looking to make it back to Rupp (Arena),” Smith stated. “I also hope to have an offer soon.”
As Taylor County has been the most dominant team in the 20th District for quite sometime, Smith knows his team will be successful. What he is focused on now is attracting coaches and college programs.
Per multiple reports, Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Tennessee Tech and Samford will all watch Smith next weekend. He has also been invited to Sanford and Murray State’s Elite Camps. The player said coaches should begin to keep an eye on him because his game is “unique.”
“My game is unique because I give 110% on the floor and I’m an all-around player,” he said to me. “I just need to keep working.”
Smith has played for Western Kentucky Elite’s 15-U squad this summer. He is doing nothing but improving.
“I’ve been performing well,” he said. “I just need to keep getting better each and every day.”
Along with being a basketball player, Smith is a good student at the high-school.
“I’m a student-athlete and I’m looking to have at least a 3.5 (GPA) next year,” he noted.
This guy has what it takes to play at the next level, and he is going to continue to improve and work hard throughout the remainder of his high-school career. PrepHoopsKentucky.com will keep an eye on him during the process.
