“I have a real versatile game,” Rode said. “I can do whatever my team needs – offensively and defensively. I’m a really good finisher and shooter, but can see the court and pass with the best of them. If I have a smaller man on me, I can post up or I have a bigger guy, I can attack off the dribble. Defensively, I’ll match up with whoever, 1-5, depending on what my team needs.”
Rode played a dominant role in the Eagles’ success last season. The athlete averaged 18.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per contest and dished out 4.5 assists per outing. Although he recorded big numbers and his team won many games, he says he wants to win a state title this year.
“I want to win a State Championship for my school for the first time ever,” Rode stated. “And for me personally, I’m looking to keep working on my game in every area and improve as a person and player.”
Rode has been playing for Indiana Elite on the AAU Circuit this summer. He has caught many eyes and played outstanding basketball.

“AAU this summer was great because I got to show every part of my game,” Rode told me. “And that was the same for this past tournament as well. I started every game for our team and we went 36-3 and won three Adidas Uprising Championships – Atlanta, Chicago and Las Vegas.”
Although Rode doesn’t have any offers yet, he says he has been shown interest from high-major programs in Indiana, Xaiver, Virginia Tech and Eastern Kentucky, and more coaches and programs should start to reach out because he is a competitor.
“I’m a competitor with a high motor, very versatile on both sides of the ball, and have great leadership qualities on and off the court,” Rode stated. “And I will not be a problem in the classroom or in life.”
In the classroom, Rode says school is very important to him.
“I have a 4.0 GPA,” Rode said. “And I have a 21 on the ACT as of right now. School is very important to me and Lexington Christian Academy is one of the best schools around for that.”
Rode is on a mission to play at the next level, and he is doing just what it takes to do so.
