North Carolina Basketball: A State of Brotherly Love

Being the younger brother of a professional or collegiate level basketball player has it’s challenges and it’s perks. Getting a birds-eye view of what it takes and the process that goes alon with it is priceless. Here is a list of some of North Carolina’s best brother-duo’s.
PJ Hairston and Tre Turner
PJ Hairston starred for Dudley HS in Greensboro, NC before heading off to a career at The University of North Carolina and now playing in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies.
His younger brother Tre Turner is a promising football and basketball prospect at Northwest Guilford HS and plays on the Nike EYBL circuit for Team CP3 The 6-foot-3 shooting guard is ranked #9 in the PrepHoopsNC 2018 rankings. He has offers from UNC-Greensboro, Western Carolina, NC A&T, Appalchian State and Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Josh Newkirk and Zach Newkirk
Josh Newkirk was a highly recruited point guard out of Word of God in Raleigh, NC from the class of 2013. He signed and played at Pittsburgh before transferring to Indiana where he should see significant minutes this season.
His younger brother Zach is also at Word of God and is in the class of 2018. He is playing on the addidas circuit with Garner Road basketball club. He recently picked up his first offer from George Mason University. Zach had this to say about having a older brother make it to the next level, “Josh really guides me a lot on what I need to do and what I’m gonna have to expect at the next level. He been pushing me since we were little and it’s always made me work even harder coming in his footsteps. And yeah we’ve talked to each other a lot since he went off to Indiana, he checks in to see how things are and to give me advice on how to improve my game based on the things he’s been learning at the college level.”
Jerome and Jeremy Robinson
Jerome Robinson enjoyed a terrific freshman year at the ACC-level at Boston College as he averaged 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. A 2015 graduate of Broughton HS in Raleigh, he was named the HighSchoolOT Holiday Invitational MVP after leading Broughton to the championship.
Younger brother Jeremy Robinson is a 2018 prospect also at Broughton HS and plays on the same travel team, Garner Road as his older brother did. He is a 6-foot-3, small forward who excels at finishing through contact, getting rebounds and slashing to the basket.
