The rising senior at The First Academy chose Clemson over the likes of UCF, USF, West Virginia, FGCU, Richmond and Northern Arizona.
William, a 6’8″, 210-pounder said that he always knew Clemson was serious about him.
“What helped me choose them was the coaching staff. They showed their faces at every game and that means a lot to me. They even came to my game when I had got hurt early in the AAU season so I knew that they were serious about me.”
After helping the Royals go 25-6 a season ago on the way to an appearance in the Class 3A state semifinals, William is looking to improve his ball handling and become a more consistent shooter.
The No. 24 player in the Prep Hoops Florida 2017 rankings had this to say about his junior year.
“Last year, I had a really good season. Coach [Chris] Mayberry let me have a little freedom. I learned to never give up, always play hard and good things will happen for you.”
William has played AAU ball for head coach Anthony Ricks and Southeast Elite since the 8th grade. He calls this year’s group wonderful.
On top of his seven offers, William also drew interest from Miami, Florida State, Florida, Oklahoma, Temple, LSU, Georgia and Georgia Tech.
William is a player to pay attention to every time he hits the floor. He can attack near the rim and from the mid-range. He’s a lengthy athlete who isn’t afraid to mix it up defensively. William will fit in nicely in Brad Brownell’s offense at Clemson.
