The 2018 prospect took part in his first showcase tournament of the summer with Ball4Lyfe United 16U. He added 15 points in a win over PSB Select on Thursday. At 6’1″, 185 lbs., Schwab is noticeably fit.
Before coming over to play for Ball4Lyfe United, Schwab went to the Hoop Group Elite camp up in Pennsylvania.
“It’s been good. I’m getting used to their style of playing,” Schwab told Prep Hoops. “There’s good chemistry and I like playing with them.”
He’s been training all summer on his own and with his high school team as they’ve taken part in camps at Embry-Riddle and FIT.
How would Schwab break down his own game?
“I give 110 percent every game. I lock people down on the defensive end. I get my stuff on the offensive end. Mostly a pass-first guy looking for my shots at times though.”
He says he feels like his game has progressed a lot since the start of the summer.
“I’ve gotten quicker on the defensive end, been able to stop more players. I’ve been shooting the ball well.”
After going 24-8 and losing to Bolles 46-39 in the 4A state final this past season, Schwab broke down his projected role.
“We lost one senior [Josh Porteus] from our state championship team. We should be good this year. I’m going to take on a lot of leadership on the offensive end.”
Right now, he’s earning interest from several Division-III programs including Goucher College.
Schwab is a top notch passer and a very underrated attacker. He got to the basket often all week and really impressed me overall. Expect Division-II schools to start to come around on him. Schwab is in for an expanded role as a junior and that bodes well for him.
