Burton talked about his sophomore season, his first on the varsity team.
“For me, last season was interesting it was filled with highs and lows. This upcoming year, I’m looking to make a major impact. I learned from the older guys to keep working hard and you’ll get your chance.”
How would he break down his own game?
“I’m a two-way guard who can score in bunches and take over the game. I can lock down the other team’s best player. I’m looking to work on my shot consistently, get more athletic and improve my ball handling further.”
Burton is leading his AAU squad, the Tampa Bayhawks with 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 assists per game thus far this spring.
“I’m the leading scorer and rebounder on our team. We came in first and twice and are going to states and nationals this summer. I’m looking to bring a title to the program.”
Three schools have shown interest in Burton already, Stetson, Montclair State and Queens University of Charlotte. He’s going to earn more interest as he heads into his junior and rightfully so.
