And the list could expand again soon.
“Florida State has been at a couple of games, Louisiana Tech, Illinois has been calling, Arkansas has been sending a lot of mail, and VCU,” said Gray.
“I think Illinois is close to offering me, the coach needs to come down to see me and he might offer me. And Florida State has been on me since last year, so maybe them too.”
“The main thing is winning and getting opportunities to play in front of coaches, and after that, whatever happens, happens.”
The versatile power forward has been working to keep his skills intact, and says his junior season was focused around playing within the team.
“I played alright this season, but I think I could have played better. I didn’t play bad, but I know I could have played better. I really focused last season on being a really good teammate, and rebounding and passing. I just wanted to do everything the team needed, not just scoring — just being a good teammate,” said Gray, who is currently spending his 17U season with the Florida Vipers.
“I’m looking to pick up more scholarships and I want to become a top-50 player in the county. I’m just hoping to keep my skills sharp and I want to make more shots and handle the ball more.”
His main focus this spring and summer? Remaining versatile.
“I want to be able to play inside and out, and not be stuck in one position,” said Gray. “I want to play all over the floor, and just develop my game as an all-around player.”
