The Brooks Debartolo 2016 product possesses the characteristics of a true point guard. He has a coveted 6’5 frame, is a long-range knockdown shooter, shows elite court vision and displays a high basketball IQ.
He averaged 11 points, and five rebounds a game this season while shooting 48 percent from beyond the arc. Humphries also proved his supreme passing ability by averaging the 12th most assist in the state (7). Even more impressive, he has a 4.75 GPA and a near-perfect SAT score of 1580.
But none of that has seemed to matter to college scouts, as he still holds zero offers to his name. It’s been a tough process for Humphries.
“It sucks to be under-recruited,” Humphries said. “When you sit back and watch people that you’ve played against getting offers and recognition that you aren’t receiving is brutal. It drives me to work harder.”
He has interest from Dartmouth, Robert Morris and Columbia. Humphries still has his sights set on attaining his dream.
“My goal is to play at the Div. 1 level,” Humphries said. “I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there. Life is never easy, and I’m definitely prepared for whatever comes next.”
Humphries will play for coach Johnny Diaz Jr. on an unsigned seniors team called the Hoop Report All-Stars in NCAA Live Period tournaments. He hopes to raise his stock and acquire offers.
