The 6’6, 217-pound 2019 product was an immediate, solid contributor for the Pirates. He averaged ten points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals a game this season.
White is a man amongst boys compared to most kids his age. He has the ideal height, meaty frame and a physical force in the interior. White is an athletic stretch four with post moves, a high motor and active on the glass. He has decent handles for his size, adept at finishing with both hands and great body control through traffic. He’s also shown flashes of slashing ability. Defensively, he possesses quick feet to stay in front of guards on the perimeter and an imposing force inside.
He already holds offers from Hampton, Marshall and UNC Asheville. He’s also drawing interest from big-time programs such as FSU, Auburn and UF.
White plans to transition to another position at the next level.
“I will probably play the 3 for college,” White said. “I’m working on having more of a consistent jumper and handling the ball through pressure over the summer.”
White has basketball in his blood. His father, David White, was named the state’s “Mr. Basketball” in 1986 and led Boca Ciega to a state title that same season. He also played in the McDonald’s All-American game before taking his talents to FSU.
So, White certainly presents a ton of upside. White will be playing with Each 1 Teach 1 on the AAU circuit. Expect him to have a breakout year.
