The 2019 6’7 point forward is the complete package. He has the handle of a guard, a one-man fast break and elite finisher. He’s a superb driver and active on the glass. He’s sprouted three inches in three months and developed a long ideal frame. The excelled growth is scary for only a freshman. Smith can also stretch a defense with his long-range shooting ability and poses matchup problems. He’s also an imposing force defensively. He’s an effective shot blocker with his length and has quick hands to create steals for easy transition buckets.
Smith impressed all afternoon yesterday at the Source Hoops and Hoop Exchange Travel team Jamboree. Smith’s raw potential and athleticism were undeniable. He was the most impressive 15U prospect on display at the event.
He averaged an impressive 15 points, ten rebounds and six assists a game this season in leading the Indians to the playoffs.
Smith has no offers. But he’s drawing interest from Auburn, LSU, Georgia, UF and FSU. He figures to be a high major plus prospect.
“I’m a guy that likes to get into the lane and shoot from the perimeter when bigs lay off me,” Smith said. “I want to play a three at the next level. I’m working on my shooting and getting faster on my feet defensively.”
Smith will be running with Showtime Hoops in the AAU circuit. He has a high ceiling and certainly a guy to watch out for.
