Recruiting Report: Darius Banks (2017)
Darius Banks’ recruitment is picking up steam.
St. Pete’s 6’5 four-star 2017 guard picked up an offer from Kansas State on Saturday- his biggest one yet.
“This is a huge offer for me,” Banks said. “But I’m just going to keep grinding, and good things will happen.”
Banks is an athletic combo guard with a long ideal frame. He’s an aggressive slasher and excellent finisher in the open floor. Banks reads passing lanes well and disruptive defensively. He can heat up in a hurry from deep and has an improved mid-range jumper. He’s an above average rebounder for his frame and a fiery competitor.
Banks averaged 23 points and eights rebounds a game this season in charging his Green Devils to their first state final appearance since 1935. He proved his winning desire in the 7A state semifinal with his team’s season hanging in the balance. Down four points with one minute, 15 seconds left, Banks recorded nine of his team’s final ten points to secure the victory.
Banks impressed scouts at the MaxPreps Holiday Classic and earned 1st team honors. He also garnered 7A All-Tournament honors from Source Hoops.
His abilities have drawn recent interest from Illinois, Villanova, Florida, Virginia Tech and Iowa. He currently holds offers from Kansas State, USF, FIU, UCF, FGCU, and Wyoming.
Banks will be running with Each 1 Teach 1 on the AAU circuit. Expect him to acquire more offers.
