The talented point guard reflected on his final season of high school ball, and says he improved as a leader on the floor.
“I thought things went good. I averaged 13 points, seven assists, five steals, and four rebounds. I was nominated McDonald’s All-American,” said Washington.
“I feel like I really improved on defense, and becoming more of a floor-general type point guard, and setting up my teammates.”
Washington — a 5-foot-8 point guard — says he picked up a bevy of interest during his senior season, and he’s hoping some late interest comes in soon.
He mentioned St. Vincent (PA), Tennessee State, Florida Atlantic, UNC-Greensboro, and other have shown interest.
“I have interest from Davidson, FAU, North Florida, Clemson, and USC. So far the only school I talked to was Clemson, and the rest of them have talked to my trainer. Clemson asked for my transcripts, and they wanted me to send more footage of me,” said Washington.
“My trainer tells me those other schools are interested in me. Tennessee State has been sending me letters and talking to me, checking up on me since last December. And UNC-Greensboro and FIU have been doing the same since January.”
He says he’d like to make decision on where he’ll play next season soon, but he’s not particularly in a hurry.
“I feel like I may get more offers,” said Washington. “And I’ll have more time to sit with my family and talk about what school would be a best fit for me.”
