St. Paul’s lost its opening game of the season November 17 against Parkview Baptist, 52-48, and the Wolves apparently weren’t very fond of losing. That was the last time St. Paul’s found itself on the wrong end of the scoreboard and their winning streak now stands at 29, the longest in the state. The Wolves have one game remaining in the regular season Thursday at home against Fontainebleau and are in prime playoff position at No. 4 in the LHSAA Class 5A power rankings.
St. Paul’s (29-1, 13-0) is a deep team with size at multiple positions and the ability to attack teams in or outside the paint and a big part of their success is due to the quadruplet of 2017 guard T.J. Bedford, 2018 W Parker Edwards, 2017 W/F Devonte Allen and 2016 F/C Harrison Prieto.
Bedford is the driving force of the squad averaging team-highs in points, assists and steals with marks of 14.7, 5.0 and 2.6 in 29 games, according to the team’s MaxPreps account. Edwards follows with 13.9 points and 3.6 assists (22 games) while Allen has averaged 13.3 points with 4.6 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.4 steals (30 games). Prieto is also averaging 13.3 points hauling in a team-high 8.3 rebounds with 3.0 blocks.
Here’s a look at what all four were able to get done in two matchups against Ponchatoula on January 15 and February 10:
