Bogalusa is preparing itself for what it hopes will be a deep run in the Class 3A playoffs but still has business to take care of in the regular season. The Lumberjacks are tied at the top of District 7-3A with Amite and Albany, all three of which are 5-2 against league opponents.
Bogalusa closes its regular season Thursday (Feb. 18) against Independence and will fall into a tie with the Amite-Albany winner on Wednesday with a win. But regardless of the outcomes in the last week of the regular season, the Lumberjacks should be in firm playoff position currently sitting at No. 21 and 2017 forwards Billy Mingo and Tramarcus Levi, along with 2016 point guard Kenneth Robertson, have played key roles.
Mingo (6-foot-4, 185 pounds) and Levi (6-foot-3, 185 pounds) spend most of their time patrolling the paint for Bogalusa and both find a multitude of ways to score. Mingo is the team’s leading scorer according to the team’s MaxPreps account at 16.9 (lists 19 of 24 games) while Levi follows at 12.2 (lists 13 of 24 games). Mingo is a bit more explosive then Levi, who does a little bit of everything for the Lumberjacks from ball-handling to rebounding to shot-blocking.
Robertson (5-foot-8, 170 pounds) handles the majority of the ball-handling responsibilities for Bogalusa and is the team’s third-leading scorer at 10.7 points per game (lists 19 of 24 games). The senior is a capable ball-handler and 3-point shooter and is always looking to stay active on defense.
Here’s a look at what all three were able to do in three games, two games against Amite February 11 and January 26 and another against Albany February 8:
