Back in October Brian Patrick (Boyd Anderson High School) took his first official visit to Youngstown State.
“I liked it,” said Patrick. “Personally, I liked it. It was fun. I felt like I would fit in there. I am going to take the rest of my visits to see how they compare.”
Though Patrick did not sign in November, this is still a viable option. In fact, Patrick has befriended a YSU signee.
“One of my friends signed to Youngstown, named Braun Hartfield,” said Patrick. “He lives in Ohio. I got to know him up there. He is pretty cool.”
Hartfield is the first member of the 2016 YSU class. The Penguins will definitely sign at least two more, and Patrick is at the top of their wish list.
“They were basically saying they need someone on the wing like me, that is versatile,” said Patrick. “They say all the guards play some one. They said I will get to shoot the ball.”
Options
Actionable offers Patrick has include Youngstown State, Charleston Southern and Bethune-Cookman.
Like YSU, CSU has already signed one guard, Christian Keeling. Because their offense features multiple wings this will not be a deterrent to Patrick signing. Neither will distance from home.
The senior wing is looking at Murray State, Jacksonville, North Florida, Bowling Green, FAMU, and Kennesaw State. Several of these schools have invested time evaluating him this winter.
“Youngstown came down,” said Patrick. “Jacksonville came down. Kansas State. Murray State came a lot of times.”
The Racers of Murray State already have a three-man class, but in the last month they have been scouring the country for a wing. If Patrick was forced to select a surefire official visit destination he picks the OVC option.
“I want to say Murray State,” said Patrick. “That is all I know right now.”
