He’s just a sophomore, but the fact that he’s seen no recruitment come his way was something he thought could be remedied by heading to a more high profile basketball program.
“Not really much interest right now, I’m kind of flying under the radar right now,” said Strickland. “It’ll probably start to materialize more in the summer, when I’m playing AAU I’ll have more free reign to show what I can do.”
Strickland added: “At Jesuit we didn’t really have an opportunity to play big games in front of a lot of people. But with Tampa Catholic, scouts and recruiters are going to be at our games, and I can show everyone what I can do.”
The 5-foot-10 point guard says his number one priority with the Crusaders is getting teammates open looks.
“Really I just like to make plays for everyone else, and I keep guys involved. When needed I can score, I like to get to the basket a lot and my mid-range pull-up is very underrated, so I like to use that as well,” he said.
“I need to work on being more consistent, and I’ need to work on my shot selection.”
As the starting point guard for the Crusaders, Strickland has one thing on his mind – state title.
“I’m starting, and my job is just to get people open, and to dish and get it to guys for wide-open shots. Really I just want to get a state championship,” said Strickland. “That’s my only goal.”
