With his great size and desire to to become a multi-position player, it’s no wonder the talented junior – a Miami Suns product – has started to hear from some Division I and Division II programs.
“I got a few letters from Navy, and I got a letter from Army. I’ve got interest from Lees-McRae (North Carolina), they check up on me sometimes. Their coach texts me almost everyday, and checks up on me. He treats me like I’m a part of the team already,” said Harris.
“I’m just hoping my recruitment continues to grow, and more schools come after me. And I’ll be able to pick a school that’s the best fit for me.”
He added: “I’m just trying to make it to the next level, and when I get there just continue to improve and get better and better.”
Harris – currently Florida’s 48th-ranked 2017 – defined his playing style to PHF, and where it is he needs to see the most improvements.
“My game is I’m very athletic, and I’m best at attacking the basket, and right now I’m working on my shot and my handles,” he said.
“Most of my points come from attacking the basket, or getting rebounds and just going back up. I need to get stronger, I need to work on my handles, and my shot and my mid-range.”
With his junior season well underway, Harris says he’s averaging 14 points and six rebounds per game. And though he’s his team’s leading scorer, he’d like to increase his scoring.
“This season I feel like I’m playing good. I need to start scoring more, even though I’m the highest scorer on the team I feel like I can score more,” said the versatile prospect.
“I start at the four, our team is very small. And then my coach just moves me around and I’ll play the three, four, and five. My role on the team is to be a captain and a leader and to just score and just help everybody out. And do the best I can to help my team win.”
