The 6-foot-4 sophomore point guard says he’ll likely play with Nike Team Florida this summer after spending last offseason with Florida Elite.
And he has spent his sophomore season playing with Riverdale, after transferring in from his old school, Mariner.
“I moved in with my mom and she lives close to there (Riverdale), so I had to switch,” said the highly-ranked 2018.
With plenty of time left to receive some offers and more interest, Tracey says he’s not too concerned right now with his recruitment – but he does have a bevy of initial Division I interest.
“I’ve heard from Murray State, Morehead State, FIU, Illinois, and UCF, and USF too. Those are the only schools I’ve heard from since the season started,” said Tracey.
“It’s mostly just letters so far, but USF, Morehead State, and Murray State have come to my games. The school I’m at though (Riverdale) is not a basketball school, so I’m hoping this summer I pick up a lot more interest.”
He added: “I’m hoping it comes together a lot, but I’m not thinking about it too much. I’m sure it will come, I’m just worried about playing basketball right now.”
Tracey went on to describe his playing style to PHF – and where it is he’s seen the most improvement.
“I think I’ve improved a lot at pulling up on my mid-range jumper and really just all my off-the-dribble shooting. I’ve gotten way more consistent and that’s basically it,” said Tracey.
“I’m still working a lot on my 3-point shot, and I’ve been working on that the most. I’ve seen some improvement.”
With his new team, Tracey says his role is to score, and to lead – and the immediate team goal is a district championship.
“I’m basically the scorer on the team, I’m averaging like 17.8 points. So I need to be the leader, and get people involved,” said Tracey.
“Right now we have an opportunity to win the district final, so we’re trying our best to get that done.”
