Though his recruitment has yet to begin, PHF’s 117th-ranked 2017 Ozzie Black could be a guy to keep an eye on over the next two years.
The 5-foot-11 wing was playing with American Prep last season as a sophomore, but made the switch to Pembroke Pines to finish out his high school career.
This spring and summer he played with the Miami Suns.
“I was one of their leaders, I was the guy to get everybody on track, and I was always focused,” said Black, who defined his playing style to PHF.
“I attack the basket really well, I can’t quite finish with my left hand as good as I want yet though. Also I’m strong, most players are taller than me, but I’m stronger, and I’m quick which helps me get to the basket.”
Black added: “My ball-handling needs to improve, I work in the gym a lot just on ball-handling drills in my spare time.”
His first season with Pembroke Pine started recently, and Black is hoping to gain some exposure while coming off the bench for the Jaguars this winter.
“I don’t start, but my coach just tells me to play my game and the game will come to me,” said Black. “So I just work, and go as hard as I can.”
