Since his heroics last spring, the 6-foot-6 wing has picked up two offers – one Division II, and one Division I – and hopes to pick up quite a few more before season’s end.
“I picked up two offers, I got Barry University (D2), and Southeastern Louisiana. I picked up the Barry offer in the summer, and Southeastern Louisiana about a month ago.”
He also mentioned Colorado D1 Denver University has shown a bit of interest, but nothing much else right now.
“Their (Denver) assistant coach has had some phone conversations with me, and has texted me,” said Diaz.
The 6-foot-6 wing says he hopes to sign with a program in April, and he feels his team’s success at Mater Academy will directly influence his recruitment.
“Hopefully we get to state and then we can get some exposure there and maybe I can pick up some offers there,” he said. “ I’m not really thinking about the offers now because I know they’ll come, so I’m not really worried about it.”
As a senior and go-to guy with Mater Academy, Diaz says his goal is to just be the best player he can be.
“I’m just trying to be the best player I can really, and just do everything I can to help my team win,” he said. “I need to put up as many points as a I can, and help out my teammates – help them get points, just make plays for the team.”
