The versatile junior plays his offseason ball with Team UnderPressure, and hopes that a big 17U season next spring and summer will lead to some offers.
“Kennesaw State came and watched me in practice,” said Williams. “And Nova Southeastern, they send me letters, and I’ve talked to them a lot. And Northern Arizona, they send me some mail”
Williams says that playing at a small school can make it difficult to garner attention.
“I always think about recruitment, and I think during high school season I won’t get much because I go to Cavalry, a small school, so nobody really knows us that well,” he said. “But when it comes to AAU season I think I’ll get some schools interested.”
The 6-foot-4 senior mentioned his playing style, and skill-set to PHF.
“Court vision is probably my best skill, seeing the court well, and passing. I have a mid-range shot, and an outside shot, I like to shoot 3s, but I’d rather get to the basket and score and try and get to the line,” said Williams.
“I still want to continue to improve my 3-point shot. And of course my handles, those could always get better.”
Now in his third year starting with the Warriors, Williams says it’s his responsibility to lift up the team when needed, and be the primary scorer.
“I have a pretty big role, it’s my third season and I’ve started all three. My role is just to pick the team up, and be the physical guy on the team, and just score the ball really,” said Williams.
“Really I just want to get to the state championship, and make my teammates better.”
