So far he’s heard little – that he knows of – from interested college coaches, and says if JuCo programs became interested, he’d be fine taking that route.
“Interest in me I don’t know a lot about right now, my coach hasn’t told me about that too much. But I know I have some interest from D1 and D2 schools,” said Johnson.
“I’m just trying to work hard and hopefully I get something (an offer) come in, and if not I’ll just have to go JuCo. If I could get a free chance to go to school for JuCo that’d be good.”
the 6-foot-3 guard described his playing style to PHF, and what it is he’ll be working to improve during his last season of pre-college ball.
“What I do best is getting to the basket, and making other plays for my teammates. And my favorite thing to do on the court is to get past my man, and just score or kick it out for a 3-pointer or maybe an alley-oop,” said Johnson.
“I need to continue to improve my jump-shot and my vocal leadership. I’m talking more in practice, and trying to hype my teammates.”
After switching schools and reclassifying, Johnson is now in the midst of his final college prep season with Elite 1 Academy.
“They just need me to play hard, play defense, and attack the basket, and knock down open shots when I can,” said Johnson. “My goal is just to help us win a state championship, and to get a Division I offer.”
