PrepHoopsIllinois was in attendance this past weekend at the NY2LA Sports Futures Camp. In this edition of the scouting report we break down the top performances from 2017 prospects in the state of Illinois.

C Jeremiah Tilmon (La Lumiere, IN _ 2017)

Tilmon was about as dominant as you could possibly be in a camp setting. The 6’11” post looks physically stronger that when we saw him just even a few months ago. He didn’t lose any of his athleticism either. What impressed most was how hard he played consistently. On several occasions he grabbed the rebound on defense, gave a crisp outlet pass, ran the floor hard, and caught a pass for dunk. Around the hoop he finished with both skill and power. Showed well in the pick and roll game. He rebounded tremendously well too. Was a man among boys on the floor and looked like a future lottery pick.

SG Tyler Chisom (Proviso East _ 2017)

Chisom is a 6’3” tough defensive minded prospect. Even in a camp setting the Proviso East junior used his quickness and strength to make life tough on his opponent. Offensively he was in attack mode slashing to the hoop in both the half court and getting to the rim in transition. Chisom’s most impressive move was when he crossed his man and finished with a banking runner off the glass.

C Joey St. Pierre (La Lumiere, IN _ 2017)

The former Richmond Burton center continues to improve. He is a load inside with his strength and huge body. Did a nice job using both hands finishing around the hoop with both a right and left hand jump hook. Snatches rebounds with his huge hands and is a solid outlet passer. Takes up space on the interior on the defensive end. Not much of a shot blocker, but is a presence because he doesn’t allow his man to get deep post position.

PF Christian Negron (Larkin _ 2017)

Negron played the way he always does. Uses his athleticism and motor to change the game with his high activity level. He is always attacking and doesn’t back down from anyone. Negron does a nice job of getting to the charity stripe by drawing contact on the interior. Still trying to figure out what type of player he wants to become, but has a lot of tools to work with. As an energy four man he will be very effective at the next level. Shows flashes of an improved perimeter game with his ball handling getting better each time we see him.

SG Denis Alibegovic (Downers Grove South _ 2017)

Alibegovic is a plus shooter with a quick release. Good form on his jumper and gets height off the floor. Still looking to develop other areas of his game. Played with a higher activity level than we had seen in the past and rebounded well.

PG PJ Pipes (Lemont _ 2017)

Pipes is a powerful combo guard that has been consistent each time we see him. You know what you are getting out of the junior. He is strong with the basketball getting in the lane and scoring in the paint. The jump shot is getting better as is his ability to run a team and get others involved. One of the better point guard prospects in 2017.

PG Teyvion Kirk (Joliet West _ 2017)

The Joliet West 6’2” point guard did a great job pushing the ball in transition. Kirk also knew how to find the hot hand. He got Wisconsin commit Kobe King the ball in his spots on the perimeter for quality looks. Was effective driving in the lane and kicking to teammates. Overall handles the ball well and is improving as a playmaker.

SF Doug Wallen (St. Thomas More _ 2017)

Mr. Versatile is this junior. Wallen is a tough and gritty 6’4” combo forward that plays with a ton of energy. He runs the floor very well and is a plus passer. Competes on the glass.

SG Brennen Woods (Hampshire _ 2017)

Woods got things going from the perimeter in the game we saw him. After a slow start he got it rolling with a tip in and then lit it up from the perimeter. The smooth wing can handle the rock and get in the lane where he proved he could finish well around the basket. Displayed his complete offensive game. The wing definitely has D1 potential.

SG Dylan Kaczmarek (Downers Grove South _ 2017)

Kaczmarek is a 6’2” long and rangy wing that plays with a high activity level particularly on the defensive end. On that end of the floor he is active getting in passing lanes and uses his length to get into his opponent. Offensively has potential as a scorer.

SG Bryan Jakobsze (Downers Grove North _ 2017)

Jakobsze shined with his ability to shoot the basketball. The 6’5” junior has good size and a nice looking shooting stroke. Doesn’t get rattled when defenders fly at him. Resets his feet and gets the jumper off. Plays with a motor and competes on the defensive end. New name to add to the radar.

PG Charles Williams (Rich Central _ 2017)

The Rich Central point guard has a good feel for the game. Smooth handles and can get in the lane and score in the paint.
