One of the top point guards in the class of 2029 nationally, Conroy Jr is known for his skill level and scoring ability. While that was on display with some tough mid-range buckets and layups off quick dribble moves, it was the rebounding that stood out the most to me. Conroy Jr was not afraid to mix it up with taller players in the paint getting a couple putback layups and also finishing defensive stops. Defensively, Conroy Jr was tough guarding the ball and took a charge against a driving player from AB Elite. Conroy Jr has the ball in his hands for a majority of the game and while turnovers will happen when you handle the ball as much as he does, there were a couple he’ll look to get back when watching back the tape. Overall loved the competitiveness that Conroy Jr showed me as he was the reason PG Elite had a chance to win the game at the end.

There are few freshmen in the country who can score at the rate and with the variety that Conroy brings to the table. The 6-foot point guard is an elite perimeter jump shooter whose ability to manipulate the defense with his handle and quickly flow into his rhythm jumper allows him to create and score in isolation situations. Conroy’s advanced offensive skill-set, and natural physicality, extends to his ability to generate contact and get to the free throw line where he converts at a high rate.

No freshman matched what Conroy, Jr. did as a scorer. The 5-foot-10 point guard was nearly unstoppable in his first season of high school basketball as he averaged 26.7 points per game and connected on 36% of his 228 three-point field goal attempts this season. Conroy had two 40-point games, and seven 30-point games in leading the Crusaders to 24 wins on the season. Conroy has a wired-to-score feel to his game which lends to his confident off-catch and off-dribble shot-making abilities.

Great experience for the handful of 2029 prospects invited to minicamp, Conroy Jr was one of just two 14 year olds in attendance. With an advanced feel for the game for his age, Conroy Jr made some impressive skip passes across the court. Low to the ground, Conroy Jr could change directions quickly and dribbled through traffic often without losing the ball. Based on what I saw this weekend, there can’t be many more skill point guards in the 2029 class nationally.

Conroy Jr. was in his bag this weekend and not just offensively but in the defensive end he set the tone for his team as he was picking up ball handlers and turning them and he was ready for a slow or bad turn so that he could quickly go for a steal. Conroy Jr. can gamble a lot because he can recover. He embraces physicality and his scoring at the three levels is impressive as he has a soft touch on floaters, he also has a devastating first step and he can get to the rim with force. He shoots the ball in rhythm and the best aspect of his scoring and attacking is that he is a player that scores within the continuity of the offense. He’s taller and stronger and he is going to be an elite lead guard at the high school level.
