We dropped our first edition of a true ranking for Southern California's class of 2029 after giving then-freshmen and current sophomores-to-be a full high school and travel season to showcase their abilities. One of the trends that stood out to us the most while gathering and sorting the names is the depth this class has at the point guard spot. Below we break down the five high level playmakers in the Top 10.

Conroy is the premier ball-in-hand scorer in Southern California's 2029 class as evidenced by him leading all Southern Section freshmen in scoring at Village Christian (26.7 ppg) and EYBL 15u level with Paul George Elite (27.3 ppg). The physical 6-foot-1 rising sophomore has advanced shot-creating and shot-making feel from all three levels of the floor due in large part to his ability to create space from defenders with his pace and savvy, impeccable footwork and confidence in his ability to get baskets.

Williams enters the Southern California rankings at No. 2 after transferring to Corona Centennial from NorCal-based Monterey Trail. The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 21.5 points per game as a freshman and added to his impressive resume as Compton Magic 16u's second leading scorer (15 ppg) and leading assist man (3.4 apg) while playing up on the Adidas 3SSB circuit. Williams is a dynamic shot-maker who pours in jumpers from all over the floor.

What stands out most about Giran is how easy the game comes to him and how simple he keeps it. At 6-feet-1 with a wiry-strong frame, Giran has a scoring simplicity to his game with his consistency in catch-and-shoot situations, quick one or two dribble pull-up jumpers and efficient straight-line drives to the basket. Rarely does he over-handle the basketball and his shot selection is good. Giran was second in the Southern Section in scoring as a freshman with 24.2 points per game and was second among 15u EYBL players in scoring at 20.6 points per game.

Reed is among the strongest and most physical guard prospects in SoCal's 2029 class. The 6-foot-1 point guard has a sturdy frame that he uses to his advantage when attacking the rim and scoring in transition and when shielding off pressure or taking bumps on drives which helps him to stay on balance and flow into his consistent mid-range jumper. While a lot of younger prospects struggle initially on the defensive end, Reed's strength, athleticism and length led to him being a viable defender from on day one. Reed ranked 11th in scoring at the 15u EYBL level with 17.8 points per game.

Of the five primary ball handlers in the 2029 Top 10, Arnold is the most "true" of the point guards. The 5-foot-11 rising sophomore might not have the physical or athletic tools of some of his peers but his basketball IQ when processing the floor and making decisions might be second-to-none. Arnold is a savvy ball handler who uses change of pace and dribble manipulation to keep defenders guessing and balances scoring and distributing well beyond his years. Arnold sees the game a step or two ahead of the opponent which leads to him creating shots for himself and teammates. Arnold averaged 15.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.9 steals per game for Team Why Not 15u.
