-I’ve liked the steady progression seen from Morton as a low block presence that is adding skill to compliment a much-improved physique. The lefty forward leverages a strong upper body to create space on duck-in’s to finish with a rapidly-improving post hook. Loved his motor on the glass and his willingness to fight through contact to collect his own finishes, as the contact he plays through often isn’t called due to his sheer strength. His communication on the back line of the defense calling out rotations and screens allows him to play the game for longer spurts of time because of the impact he makes beyond the box score. Morton finished with a near double-double by sinking all 4 of his attempts around the basket down the stretch and showed improved shooting touch on pick n pop reps from high post.

-The big dog has lost 30 lbs already this season, enabling him to play for longer stretches of time and improving his mobility– especially at the defensive end of the floor. Morton’s ability to catch tough passes in traffic, finish through contact on either side of the rim, hit the glass to score putbacks at the offensive end or close out possessions at the defensive end, and knock down open midrange jumpers has come a long way even since the beginning of the season. Loved the touch on his hook shots around the rim and his footwork has improved to allow him to pivot for better finishing angles around the basket. The timing on his rolls after setting physical screens on or off the ball has also improved along with the mechanics to cut down on some of the offensive fouls that plagued him at the start of the year.

In Bethel’s two games, Morton averaged a near double with 11 PPG and 8 RPG. He utilized his size and strength to carve out position in the paint for scoring and offensive rebounding opportunities. I continue to be encouraged by his touch flashes at the rim and free-throw line. Morton leveraged his size and length to block multiple shots by staying vertical with high hands. Since he lacks ideal pop, maximizing his physical tools as much as possible remain important.

The Augusta, GA native reclassified into the 2027 class and continues to raise his stock as a frontcourt prospect. Morton brings clear size and strength and has shown improved conditioning and mobility. The center has soft hands, scores effectively over his left shoulder in the paint, and is a capable passer out of the post.

Uzziah is a massive young man he is a load to once he gets the ball on the block. Despite his size he is nimble big who can really drive and finish around the rim with purpose. The 6-9 possesses solid footwork for his size, nice shooting touch and a lot of grit. Morton finished with a team-best 15 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to Bishop Ireton. If Uzziah ever gets in shape he has the potential to be a legit Division 1 prospect. He’s a dangerous inside player who is a nifty shooter as well and good free throw shooter.

A new name on our radar, Morton has started to make some waves in the DMV after moving up from Georgia to repeat his junior year. His production didn’t jump off the page as part of a guard-oriented Bethel group, but Morton nonetheless showed a promising skillset as the man in the middle. The wide-bodied post has soft hands and swift touch around the rim after carving out position in the post or on the glass. He flashed a workable shooting stroke from the foul line and out to the perimeter while also serving as a natural deterrent at the rim defensively with his size and length. We’d like to see him make strides in his conditioning to translate to the D1 level but the building blocks are there for Morton to build with over the next 18 months.

Uzzi Morton, as he gets things going at the rim. Love his mobility and fluidity, attacks the rim in transition, comfortable in defending the perimeter and shows the ability to pass out of double teams and set effective picks. There is a lot of potential in Uzzi’s game especially when he gets in better conditioning. Possesses soft hands, vision, runs the floor hard, and maximizes his length and girth on both ends of the floor. Physical finisher.

A huge physical big man with improving offensive skills. The South Carolina native is surprisingly mobile in transition, a regular visitor on the glass and plays with a high motor and physicality. The Big Man eliminates shots around the rim of opposing guards, bigs an agile rim running opponents with authority. Impressive ability to finish either shoulder on mid post catches. Uzziah has transferred to Bethel Academy in Leesburg, VA.
