Top Centers in Updated Virginia 2027 Rankings

Frontcourt prospects are at a premium for college coaches and Virginia's 2027 recruiting class has plenty of them to evaluate this summer. Kalonji was a productive and impactful frontcourt presence for Team Loaded on the adidas 3SSB circuit this spring, consistently bringing energy, toughness, and physicality to the floor. A hard playing, rim running big man, he thrives by doing the dirty work and making winning plays. Kalonji plays with a high motor, runs the floor well, and is a constant threat to finish around the basket in transition and out of pick and roll situations. He has good strength and uses it effectively to establish position, battle on the glass, and finish through contact. A productive rebounder on both ends of the floor, he consistently creates extra possessions with his effort and physicality. Defensively, Kalonji protects the rim with his shot blocking ability and brings a strong presence in the paint.     Gregory, Kalonji's teammate with Team Loaded, is a skilled frontcourt prospect whose long term potential makes him an intriguing player to monitor. A high academic prospect, he brings a combination of size, touch, and offensive versatility that is increasingly valuable in today's game. Gregory is comfortable operating both inside and out, showing the ability to score on the block with either shoulder while also stretching the floor as a pick and pop threat from beyond the arc. He has soft hands, good touch around the basket, and a feel for scoring that allows him to be effective in a variety of situations.     Sherman continues to trend upward as a 2027 prospect and put together a strong spring with OTP on the Pro16 circuit. The Georgia native possesses obvious size, good strength, and an increasingly polished interior game that has taken a noticeable step forward over the past year. Sherman is at his best on the block, where he embraces physical play, establishes deep position, and consistently looks to score with his back to the basket. He has shown improved touch around the rim, solid footwork, and a growing ability to finish through contact. Defensively, his size and length allow him to alter shots in the paint and provide a presence around the basket.     Russell is a developing frontcourt prospect with encouraging physical tools. A big man who moves well for his size, he shows good mobility and coordination that allow him to impact the game on both ends of the floor. Offensively, Russell has displayed soft touch around the rim and is capable of finishing plays in the paint with either hand. As he continues to gain experience and confidence, his overall offensive skill set is beginning to emerge. Adding physical strength will be an important part of his development, as it should help him become more effective as a rebounder, interior scorer, and defender against stronger competition.     Morton recently announced a transfer to Mt. Zion Prep (MD) and will move out of our rankings in the next update. The Augusta, GA native possesses impressive size and strength, along with a steadily improving overall game. His conditioning and mobility have taken noticeable steps forward, allowing him to be more effective on both ends of the floor. Playing with the Southern Kings, Morton has soft hands and a developing offensive skill set, highlighted by his ability to score efficiently on the block, particularly over his left shoulder. He embraces physical play in the paint, establishes position well, and has shown improved touch around the basket. Beyond his scoring ability, Morton is a capable passer out of the post who sees the floor well and can make the right read when defenses collapse. .
