About Tysen
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
A constant threat offensively, who can also adapt to and read various defenses very well. Can patiently pick my scoring spots while efficiently running the offense. I contribute on both ends of the court in various ways. I find ways to get my teammates involved in the offense and am instrumental in getting them scoring opportunities.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
Very outgoing and don't like drama. I am liked by many, but I keep a very small circle of my closest friends. I find and hang out with people who have goals like my own, which is to play at the next level. I associate with athletes who like to be in the gym. In addition, they have to be serious about school and grades, as I find that sometimes I need help in a class or with an assignment.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am a freshman and am currently looking into joining some of the many organizations that they have on our school campus. Being a freshman, however, I want to make sure I have the time to do those things without sacrificing the time I spend in the gym, and also ensure that I can maintain the grades needed to play in HS and get a college scholarship.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I have found that kids young and old tend to gravitate towards me despite my age. I consider myself a leader but sometimes don't always welcome that challenge. I consider myself a team leader because I often try to keep the team together by inviting them to outings like movies or hanging out and always invite my teammates to the gym for a workout or to play games when I go there myself.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
I haven't faced anything significant so far but I am trying to make my school's varsity team as a freshman. I consider that to be my immediate challenge. While I am most likely going to make JV, I like the challenge of trying to make the team since we have a lot of good players on Varsity.
What type of college are you looking for?
My idea college has to have weather that includes all four seasons. Also, I want a program that allows me to play basketball while developing my game for the next level. I don't know what I want to major in but the college will have to have a degree program that will accommodate my major.
