Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
Episcopal Academy didn’t make a ton of noise on a team level this winter but Dennis quietly looked to have turned a real corner with his ability to translate his size and versatility into consistent production on the floor. He’ll look to build on that growth with a post-grad year at Choate (CT), heading to the NEPSAC at one of the more prestigious academic institutions in the country. Dennis has long made his living as a floor-spacer from beyond the perimeter with a smooth arc to drag opposing forwards out to the perimeter. He showed intriguing growth this winter with his skill and aggression attacking closeouts and making plays off the dribble while also looking to have added strength to make more of a consistent impact near the rim. He’ll have high-academic programs of all levels tracking his progress closely in the 2027 class.

Dennis has consistently intrigued with his natural talent over the years but it’s fair to say he hasn’t always been able to parlay that into consistent production and impact on the floor. Building on a strong AAU campaign, he continued to show real signs of progress as a senior, emerging as a consistent go-to weapon in a mostly younger Churchmen rotation. He’s able to keep the game simple by thriving with his combination of size and shooting, spacing the floor from the frontcourt as a trailer or pick-and-pop threat. He showed added confidence this year shooting over weak contests, along with increased polish and aggressiveness attacking closeouts off the dribble to put pressure on the rim. Dennis brings a translatable plug-and-play skillset in a valued role at the next level, with high-academic interest across the entire college spectrum as he considers a potential post-grad year.

Size and shooting make for an appealing combination at any level, and Dennis thrives by bringing both to the table. A natural floor-spacer at the forward spot, Dennis flows consistently to open space off-ball before showcasing a smooth and repeatable shooting stroke from a variety of actions off the catch. He’s able to use his size and length to make opportunistic plays inside on either end of the floor and has shown progress of late as a straight-line driver attacking wild closeouts off the bounce. Dennis has entertained D1 recruitment over the years and is also exploring the potential of a prep year to develop further and boost his stock even further.

Dennis is an active forward who can play around the bucket and can stretch out to playing on the perimeter. He has nice size at the 4-man position. He does a nice job of seeing the floor and finding other for scoring looks. He was able to score through contact around the bucket. Dennis had good timing when going up to alter shots. He is a prospect who I think should be a priority for low ones.

The appeal has always been evident with Dennis, as the jumbo wing forward offers an enticing blend of size, fluidity, and shotmaking potential. A former baseball prospect still in his first calendar year of focusing full-time on hoops, he’s shown important steps of turning potential into production over the course of the spring in the HGSL and elsewhere. Dennis has been effective in keeping it simple but remaining aggressive and impactful no matter the competition, highlighted by a weekend averaging over 15 and seven boards against a collection of UAA and EYBL teams. The versatile forward is being tracked closely by high-academic D1 programs with his first offer figuring to be around the corner if he keeps up this level of play into the summer.

How more DI programs are not contacting this kid is a mystery to us. At the Spring Jam Fest Dennis proved again that he is a multi-skilled prospect with a jumper that is automatic from the baseline to the elbows to beyond the 3-point line. His ability to shoot after using pump fake and then a side dribble to find open space is fantastic. This stretch-4 prospect also excelled at popping trail threes. Additionally, Dennis used his size and footwork to score over defenders on dives to the cup as well as block to block flashes.
