Mr. Martin may be young, but he’s definitely a player to keep an eye on. The six-foot sophomore guard made a strong impression last season, starting the final six games at the point and showing flashes of brilliance. Martin spent the summer with Sanford Sports, putting in the work to improve his game and sharpen his skills. A smart, skilled player and student of the game, Tatum combines basketball IQ with hard work, setting the stage for a promising sophomore campaign.

Martin comes from a basketball family, and it shows in the way he approaches the game. As a freshman last season, he earned a starting role and held his own, proving he belonged on the floor. He’s a high-IQ player who puts in the work, with a productive offseason that has only elevated his skill set. Martin combines solid defensive instincts with a well-rounded skill level, giving the Broncs a young playmaker ready to take another leap. Expect him to emerge as a difference-maker this season as he continues to grow and refine his game.

WHY?

Started last year as a frosh but had an excellent summer and will be making a name for himself this winter. As a combo-guard, Martin is an affluent shooter, a smart defender, and he always seems to make the “right” play. He feeds the post, has solid fundamentals, and a high IQ for the game. PHD expects Tatum to be a double-digit scorer, and an impact player for the Broncs as a soph.

Martin really shot the ball well this past weekend in St. Cloud. He made some big shots when the team was struggling to score at key moments. Tatum hit consistently from the three-point arc, but also made a lot of positive plays with his pull-up jump shots from 15ft. This Bronc is a shooter!

I viewed Tatum in the Bell Fourche vs Lemmon game. He looks like a kid that could grow in height because he has longer limbs and a lean, athletic frame. He can handle the point and play and move without the ball. He’s looking for his three when he’s not in possession of the ball, not shy to continue to be a shooter if a couple don’t fall. Martin is set to prove himself with Sanford Sports Academy SF this offseason.
