About Reymundo
Expert Analysis

There is plenty to admire about the way Garibay takes care of business on the basketball court. Like all of the St. Joseph players, Garibay is a smart player who makes plays on both ends of the court. He takes good shots, doesn’t force the issue and is a good help defender in addition to keeping his opponent away from the basket as often as possible. Gariaby is a knock-down three-point shooter who finished with a team-best 20 points in the Lancers’ 68-59 victory over a much bigger St. Francis de Sales squad. He made four three-point baskets and was money from the foul line late in the game as the Lancers moved to 12-5 on the season.

Reymundo flashed some of the best handles and pure scoring ability at the event. Despite that ability to go and get a bucket just about any time he wants to, it was his defensive effort that first caught my eye. He was picking up full-court from the opening tip, looking to pressure opposing guards into making mistakes. He came up with a couple of steals by jumping passing lanes which led to easy buckets. In the half-court he has the handle and change of speed to get to his just about any spot he wants to, and Reymundo showed he can be a true three level scoring threat.

Garibay never seems to be in a hurry, which is a product of his basketball instincts as well as the way Kenosha St. Joseph plays the game. And that approach has led to very good results for both the rising sophomore and for the Lancers’ program. Second-place finishers in the WIAA Division 4 State Tournament in both 2023 and 2024, St. Joseph will rely heavily on the considered skills of Garibay, who started as a freshman for coach Kyle Clark and averaged 10.5 points per game. Garibay has a tight handle, shoots it with accuracy from beyond the three-point arc and defends well in the half court. His ability to knock down shots will be huge for St. Joseph next winter and performed that role well in Burlington while helping his team to a 2-1 record.

Despite the close loss to Waterford, Reymundo impressed in his first high school game. The freshman guard did a nice job of getting into his mid-range jumper off of limited dribbles, and elevating to connect over an outstretched hand. Really liked the poise and confidence he played with, knowing when to keep the ball moving, while having the the confidence to get to his spots when they were there. Knocked down a handful of jumpers in an impressive freshman debut.

Reymundo could be a name to watch in Kenosha over the next few seasons. He spent his summer running with Mac Irvin Fire, one of the top programs in Illinois. In checking out some of his highlights, Reymundo looks to be a shifty guard who excels at creating separation to get into his pull-up jumper.
