with some other talented players on their roster. Schwalbach was all over the floor on Saturday Night on both offensively and defensively. Offensively, Schwalbach has great feet around the basket and operating out of the midpost. The 6’3 sophomore is so shifty going to the basket and can stop on a dime to rise up and hit pull-up jumpers making him very dangerous and so difficult to guard. Where Schwalbach is so underrated, is his ability to steal the basketball from his matchup at any given time. He was in the passing lanes all night and finished with five steals to go along with his 17 points. The 6’3 guard will be an important piece for the Ghosts and first year coach Ryan Bowers, as they try to get to Madison for the state tournament in March.
A key player for one of the state’s best teams, Schwalbach leads the Ghosts in assists and steals while also contributing at a high level on the defensive glass. A smart player with good size and impressive skills. Schwalbach is averaging 15.5 points and shooting 61 percent from the floor for Kaukauna, which is 12-1 under first-year coach Ryan Bowers. Schwalbach is very good against pressure defense, sees the floor well and can score at all three levels. He’ll need strength and to better his three-point shooting in the coming years, but his future is very bright.
Schwalbach was another young prospect that rose to the occasion in Kimberly on Friday night. The 6’3 guard used his extremely developed skill set to score at all three levels on Friday. Schwalbach hit three threes in the game and also looked fluid off the bounce attacking the basket. Schwalbach was averaging 13.3ppg coming into this matchup and is playing well enough to make some serious noise later in the season for the Ghosts, and into club season this spring and summer.
Schwalbach was among the most athletic players in camp, combining quick instincts with defensive versatility. His anticipation in the passing lanes and timing as a shot-blocker created turnovers and easy transition chances. With his athleticism, defensive motor, and understanding of the game, Schwalbach projects as a high-upside two-way prospect.
