Hector Marquez | Prep Hoops Scout
IQ is off the charts and he plays with a constant motor. He knows how to move and get into space. He shoots the ball well and is a threat from deep but the way hea reads what the defense is doing allows him to have success in the post and just moving to the basket. Kid is going to be an off the radar steal .

Smylie is a very underrated player but that is okay, he had a breakout season as not many people knew about him. He is a player that can score at all three-levels but he has some solid positional size off the ball and he is a big time IQ kid. He moves well without the ball and he knows how to put himself in positions to score. His recruiting is starting to take shape and he is going to be a sneaky steal in this class.

BIG TIME HOOPER! Reef can really go and the thing that I love about his game is that he can go into the post and use his footwork, length and scoring ability/soft touch to get some much needed buckets when the offense stalls. He can shoot from deep but his midrange is where it is at. You have to respect that outside jumper and he can take a pump and get in the midrange in one dribble and score. He defends well and he is just getting things going. Big time steal for sure.

Smylie was actually a big presence in the post. He might not have the height but he has the skills and the moves. When Olympus involves him in the offense with some post touches it really opens things up. Last night they went to him a few times and he had great looks. With some film reiew they could find some positivity in last nights game.

Reef has been an absolute bucket this year as he has joined a duo and has now created a trio out at Olympus. His ability to score with minimal dribbles. Catch and shoot he is a knockdown shooter. His activity rebounding and simply moving around is really impressive. Keep an eye on him moving forward as he is putting up impressive numbers.

Maybe about 1 minute into the game it was like, “who is that”, Smylie had himself a game and the best part of his game was that he was in the right place at the right time. He crashed the boards and got some easy rebounds and putbacks. He was spacing the floor well and getting good looks at the rim. He will have a big role moving forward. Solid game, looking forward to what else he can do this year.
