About Philip

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I like to use my 3pt shooting to create space for teammates driving or posting up. I enjoy sprinting around the floor, pulling defenders away from paint to create opportunities for my teammates and myself to score. Defensively, I love the challenge of locking down my opponent and making them uncomfortable. I prefer to stay in good defensive position than gamble for steals.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

On & off the court I am focused, competitive & passionate about doing what's right. I try my best to have a next play mentality & want the opportunity to give my best effort. I am team motivated & want to encourage and lead. I am always ready and yet remain patient.Whether on or off season, I continue to get extra work in, seek feedback and keep shooting. My faith is a priority & is my strength.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

FCA Leader, NHS/Beta, Billy Hicks Acad Award,WCHS Honor Roll, KHSAA Academic All-State(23-24),KHSAA Academic First Team All-State Golf(2024), WCHS Best Team-Mate(23-24),Rising Star Award (WCHS Track 23-24), Broke School Rec 4x800 (24),David Gould Character Award (WCHS Golf 23-24)16U NCHBC All-American (22-23 w/ Bluegrass United), Most Outstanding Offensive Player (21-22 & 22-23 w/Bluegrass United)

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I enjoy building relationships with younger guys that will be moving to Varsity. It's important to me to build relationships & hope I've set a good example in my time at WCHS. As a Devotional Leader for FCA for all (3) of my HS teams (Basketball, Golf & Track), I've had to practice public speaking which hasn't always been easy. Through service projects, I've gotten to know new people in community.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

This was not a challenge but a unique part of my story. I was homeschooled for first two years of High School (that's why none of my stats transfer to KHSAA), then I transferred into my county school where I live, to grow and be challenged. It's been a meaningful and worthwhile experience for me. I see challenge as a positive. I left what was comfortable to be challenged.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am open to different opportunities but value a school where I can get a marketable degree with a supportive community as well as connections through internships so that I will have as much valuable experience going into my future career.
